It only took Richmond 27 seconds to score its first goal of the second half. The Spiders pushed the lead to three goals, 5-2.

The Spiders scored two consecutive goals coming from the Friend sisters. Sophomore Mandy Friend scored, going one on one against the UMass defense, and her older sister senior Ashley Friend added another goal within the next minute.

UMass ended Richmond’s 8-0 run with a goal from freshman Stephanie Hopkins. However, Richmond answered with another goal, taking a 9-3 lead with 15:44 remaining.

With four minutes remaining Richmond scored to take a commanding 10-3 lead. The Minutewomen played aggressively in the final 10 minutes, trying to cut back into the lead. They had some opportunities, but they were unable to put away any goals until late in the second half with 2:58 remaining in the game. The final score Richmond 10, UMass 4.
